Cleaning Assistant
Scarborough Sixth Form College (Part time, permanent)

We are seeking 2 enthusiastic and flexible individuals to assist in providing an effective, efficient and safe cleaning service.

The College’s cleaning service is run in-house and managed by our Site Manager. The cleaning assistants are organised into two teams.

Previous experience in a similar role and/or environment is an advantage, though training will be given. More important is a commitment to achieving high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, combined with a flexible and positive approach. You will need to be able to work well as part of a team, but also able to pro-actively carry out tasks without close supervision.

You must be willing and able to carry out the variety of manual tasks which are an essential part of this kind of role. The successful candidates will be appointed to point 3 of the College’s support staff pay spine, currently £18,593 p.a. for full-time. Actual salary is pro-rata to contract hours and weeks worked.

Both contracts will be on a permanent basis for an average of 16 hours per week, starting as soon as the successful candidate is available, following safeguarding checks.

Normal working hours are: Monday to Thursday 4.15pm to 7.30pm and Friday 4.15pm to 7.15pm.

You will be eligible to join the Local Government Pension Scheme.

The information above is provided as an overview, for information only. Full details of actual terms and conditions will be supplied with the letter of appointment.

The College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. To meet our safeguarding obligations:

  • Applicants are required to submit a completed Declaration Form with their application
  • Referees are asked if they are aware of any child protection allegations or issues
  • All appointments are subject to verification of qualifications, medical clearance, satisfactory DBS Disclosure (Enhanced) and satisfactory written references.
