Location: George Pindar School, Scarborough

L11 – L15

Start date: September 2022

‘There are no great schools without great teachers’

George Pindar School is an 11-16 secondary situated in Scarborough and we are a community school where our colleagues are #proudtobepindar. We are a school with low staff turnover and high staff morale and we are looking positively to the future. We are within commutable distance from Filey, Driffield, Malton and York
We are a proud member of the Hope Sentamu Learning Trust family of schools along with our coastal partner Graham School. As our new teaching colleague you will join a staff body that includes SLT, ECTs and experienced professionals who with the tailored support from our Trust are making George Pindar a school our community can be proud of.

We are an inclusive school and we are now oversubscribed in Year 7; we have the highest aspirations for our students to achieve their very best and grow both as individuals and as members of their community. The development of the whole child forms an integral part of our vision; we want the best for every student at George Pindar School irrespective of their background. We value honesty, high aspirations, mutual respect and resilience. We work together as #TeamGPS to ensure that every member of our community can strive for success.

Our Opportunity

As a result of relocation of the current post holder we are looking for a teacher and leader to join our school as our new Assistant Vice Principal. George Pindar School is on an exciting journey as we work together to make a difference for the young people we serve. When every day is different, this role presents you with the exciting opportunity you have been looking for!

You will be an outstanding practitioner in your own subject area and have the ability to lead by example; your enthusiasm and credibility will help you take colleagues with you and this will be firmly embedded within your current practice. You may be looking at this as either your first SLT post or as a leader looking for a different challenge – either way we would welcome your application. Without question you will join an SLT team that is firmly focused on making all members of the community #ProudToBePindar and be part of a motivated staff body that will support you.

The current post holder has built on developments in teaching and learning over the last eighteen months with the enhancement of the GPSLM (George Pindar School Learning Model) and a Quality Assurance Programme which is fully focused on Plan-Do-Review cycles to further improve and refine teaching practice across our faculties. Staff development is a key feature of this role and clear induction and development programmes are led by the AVP to ensure that all new starters at George Pindar have the best start to their career. The new post holder will take teaching and learning to the next level, further embedding the learning model and supporting students to perform better in exam conditions. An interest in literacy to further improve outcomes would be pertinent at this point.

As a senior colleague you will be supported by our Trust which provides a tailored ongoing programme of professional development to all our staff. We would encourage you to have a look at our brochure which describes the career pathways we have in place for ambitious team members.

We welcome interest from colleagues at all leadership levels with any subject discipline.
